Carlos is a tough man to negotiate with on contracts. He lives and works in Brussels. His talent, combined with the contacts of his mother, a senior official of the United Nations, are about to help him reach the pinnacle of his career: a seven-figure salary and a job in New York with his wife Odile, the only woman capable of bringing him back down to earth and making a father out of him. However, to get the promotion, he must first go to Africa and use all of his skills to solve an abdution that has compromised the signing of a major contract. Although not an expert in these types of conflict, he is still the best person to solve it. The terrorist leader is an old friend of his from back when he was in the military. And abduction is just the tip of the iceberg in a conspiracy in which appearances are deceiving and in which the abductors are the victims. Carlos must not only stand up to a corrupt and hostile government system backed by huge Western corporations, but also face decisions he made a lifetime ago.
