Twenty-nine-year-old Gaëlle lives alone in Tournai. She has lost custody of her daughter who has been living exclusively with her father for the past three years. Gaëlle is what is known as a returnee. She joined the Islamic State in Raqqa in 2015, and brought her then-five-year-old daughter along with her on this mad journey. After returning to Belgium safe and sound, Gaëlle is trying everything possible to regain custody of her daughter after two years in prison. She contacts a number of institutions who help her bond anew with her daughter whom she does not see very often. She also draws energy and motivation from Sufism.
