Synopsis

'Les Misérables', that since its publication in 1862 has not loss any of its impact, is an ode to the people's struggle, the spirit of humanity and the redeeming power of love in the face of a brutal, indifferent and divided society.

The characters of Jean Valjean, his tormentor Javert, the damned Fantine, her daughter Cosette, the incorrigible and terrible Thénardier and his family, and the romantic hero of the barricades Marius are brought to life with the modern power and freshness that Andrew Davies puts into all of his works.
