In a series of short episodes, the ArchiBrussels Podcast will look at 20 contemporary architectural and urban planning projects in Brussels. A 19th-century factory transformed into a museum, a modern eco-friendly factory built at the heart of the city, a school with a suspended schoolyard, temporary uses for empty buildings that provide new spaces for surrounding neighbourhoods, and community gardens as acts of resistance. Far from the excesses of flashy façades, this series explores the rich and unique aspects of the architectural avant-garde in Brussels. These are just some examples of responses to current urban challenges: lack of space, need for collective action and solidarity, environmental issues, high housing prices, zoning, etc. Each podcast invites listeners to discover a location through its sounds and the words of its architects and users. This polyphonic series gives an interdisciplinary look at the things that shape our urban lives.
