Synopsis

'Ashcan' tells the story of the secret prison where prominent Nazi leaders were incarcerated after the Allied victory on 8 May 1945. 'Ashcan' is the code name of the prison placed under the authority of the American army in Mondorf-les-Bains, Luxembourg where the prominent Nazi leaders will be detained and interrogated. It is the lull between the end of the war and the Nuremberg trials. Even though the Allies won the Second World War, they know next to nothing about the Nazi regime that wreaked havoc in Europe, but want to understand. They assemble the civil and military leaders of the defeated power in a single place. The film puts viewers at the heart of the American military intelligence. Without any use of force or torture, a handful of young American officers will obtain exceptional intelligence on the defeated regime from humanity’s worse criminals.
