Brussels-Based Production Companies Leading the Way
Almost all – 9 out of 10 - selected projects are led by Brussels-based production companies.
Brussels Talent in Directing
Among the 10 projects, 37.5% of the directors are from Brussels (6 out of 16). The selected directors include Michal Wald for L'île de la demoiselle, Julien Henry for Alma, Sergio Ghizzardi for Ne jamais gaspiller une bonne crise, Frederike Migom for Mag ik (ik) zijn?, Fabrice Armand for La cuisine belge pour les snuls, and Rachel Marino for Les Minus.
Projects Predominantly... Belgian
Seven out of the ten selected projects are majority Belgian productions. However, Brussels remains a hub for international co-productions, with 30% of the projects being minority productions in collaboration with France (four projects), as well as Canada, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
#BrusselsAnimationValley Thriving for Young Audiences
The Brussels animation sector continues to strengthen, thanks to the talents and studios of #BrusselsAnimationValley, which is supporting four projects, three of which are aimed at kids audiences. These include the feature film Yugly by nWave and the minority co-produced series Patouille (co-produced by Umedia) and Les Minus (co-produced with Panique!). These series will be broadcast on France TV (Patouille) and RTBF and VRT (Les Minus).
A Tight Budgetary Context
Aware of the current budgetary challenges in the Brussels-Capital Region, the Board of Directors of screen.brussels ensures prudent oversight and particular attention to the management of available budgets.
In this regard, transparent communication on the remaining available budget for the year's last two sessions will be provided to the sector ahead of the deadlines on June 6, 2025, and September 12, 2025.
