SERIES WOMEN 2021

Producers Caroline Houben and Sarah Marks, from Brussels and Antwerp respectively, have been selected for the all-new SERIES’ WOMEN 2021 programme shining a light on female producers in Europe.

For its first edition, the SERIES’ WOMEN 2021 programme will showcase the work of 20 female producers hailing from 13 different European countries. Their productions have been acclaimed by the public and critics at international festivals in Venice, Berlin or Toronto. Some have been selected and won prizes at the Golden Globes or Danish Film Awards. SERIE’S WOMEN 2021 aims to enhance access to the audiovisual industry for female producers, but also to set up professional networks and offer support from experts in the field. In addition to online workshops with renowned professionals, the programme offers exclusive pitching and networking opportunities at the Series Mania Forum 2021.

The aim of SERIES’ WOMEN 2021 is to fight the under-representation of women in the audiovisual industry by enhancing the careers of promising female producers.

Among the 20 producers selected, Caroline Houben from Brussels (CLIMAX FILMS) and Sarah Marks from Antwerp (MARKS) will be representing Belgium.

CLIMAX FILMS has produced films including Atlas by Niccolò Castelli, The Man Without Gravity by Marco Bonfanti, Black by Adil El Arbi as well as The Brand New Testament and Mr. Nobody by Jaco Van Dormael.

This production company founded in Brussels in 2004 by producer Olivier Rausin, and later joined by Caroline Houben, has produced more than 50 films and set up a number of international audiovisual projects.

SCREEN.BRUSSELS, alongside other Belgian institutions (VAF, Wallimage, Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles), supports this project launched by the EPC (European Producers Club) and the EPI (Erich Pommer Institute).

SERIE'S WOMEN 2021 will take place between April and September 2021.
