The Intercommunal Transport Company of Brussels (STIB-MIVB) is responsible for public transport in the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region and 11 other peripheral municipalities. To this end, the STIB operates a network of metros, buses and trams.
The STIB network has 4 metro lines, 18 tramway lines, 49 bus lines and 11 night bus lines. End-to-end, the STIB lines cover some 650 km, including 40 km of underground metro, 140 km of tramways and 450 km of bus lines. Each metro station and pre-metro station is decorated by a Belgian artist, sometimes inspired by the name of the station.
