Séries Mania Festival

Currently the Series Mania, the 100% Series International Festival of Lille (April 27 to May 5) and its market for professionals take place from 2nd to the 4th May. This event will be an opportunity for Brussels to come and to defend its know-how in terms of series, in the wake of the preparation of a cooperation agreement between the Brussels-Capital Region and the European Metropolis of Lille.

On Friday 4 May, screen.brussels will present to professionals from all over the world why Brussels has been, for several years, the field of co-productions and the filming of international series. To name just a few : Public Enemy, The Break, Unit 42, Bullets, The Missing, Salamander, Transferts, Generatie B, The Crimson Rivers, Les Miserables as well as webseries like Typique, Euh, Funcorp. It will also be an opportunity to present the Brussels ecosystem that is constantly at the forefront of innovation in the world of Virtual Reality.

In addition, the audience will be able to go behind the scenes of 2 international series in production in the form of case studies: Les Miserables co-produced by the Brussels CZAR with the BBC presented by Eurydice Gysel and Zone Blanche, season 2, co-produced with Be-FILMS and France Télévisions presented by Christophe Louis.

Brussels is also taking part in the unprecedented initiative to bring together French and Dutch speaking Belgian talents for a special promotion operation: the Belgian Bright. On Thursday 3 May, sixty Belgian screenwriters and showrunners will board a specially chartered bus to Lille to attend the Mania Series Co-production Forum.

The purpose of this operation is twofold: to stimulate international co-production and cooperation, but also to create links between the creators of our two communities. On site, they will participate in several events and professional meetings. They will attend, among other things, the pitch sessions of the RTBF / FWB fund and the VRT.

Belgian Bright 2018 is an initiative of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, VAF, RTBF and VRT with the support of Flanders Image, Wallonia Brussels Images, Screen Brussels, Wallimage, SACD, DeAuteurs, Mediadesk Flanders and Mediadesk Wallonia-Brussels.
