Description

Serendipity Films is an independent film production company, created by producer Ellen De Waele in 2006. Serendipity (co-)produces international feature films and documentaries in a wide variety of genres. Serendipity prides itself in supporting fresh and innovative, young as well as established talent.

Recently, Serendipity Films co-produced Augure, a feature film by Baloji, produced by Wrong Men, wich was selected for Un Certain Regard at the Cannes International Film Festival 2023 and won the Prix De La nouvelle Voix.

Serendipity also co-produced Amal, a feature film by Jawad Rhalib, which premiered at Film Fest Ghent, and Under the Naked Sky, a feature film by Lilian Sijbesma, which premiered at Film by the Sea. 

Earlier productions include Dark Rider, a documentary feature by Eva Küpper, which had its world premiere at Dokfest Münich 2021 and its theatrical release in June 2021 in the Benelux. Dark Rider was nominated for the Ensor for Best Documentary feature in 2022 and won the Best Feature Film at the 2023 Toronto Motorcycle Film Festival.

The Pink Revolution, a documentary feature by Jawad Rhalib; the short film Howling by Laura Van Haecke, which won the Best International Short Award at Palm Springs International ShortFest;

Los Veo, a short film by Daniel Granados, which premiered at Kortfilmfestival Leuven 2020, and is nominated for an Ensor for Best Fiction Short Film 2022;

On Air, a documentary feature by Manno Lanssens, which had its world premiere at the Docville International Film Festival and was selected for the Rome Film Festival, Doclisboa International Film Festival in 2019 and Budapest International Documentary Film Festival in 2020;

Retrospekt, a feature film by Esther Rots with Flemish actresses Circé Lethem and Lien Wildemeersch in the lead roles, which premiered in 2018 at TIFF and was selected for the Berlinale/FORUM 2019;

Une part d’Ombre, a feature film by Samuel Tilman with Fabrizio Rongione and Natacha Régnier in the lead roles;

Strike A Pose, a documentary by Ester Gould & Reijer Zwaan, which premiered in 2016 at the Berlinale Film Festival (Panorama) and is travelling the world since (Tribeca, HotDocs, etc); and Death of a Shadow, a short film by Tom Van Avermaet starring internationally acclaimed actor Matthias Schoenaerts, which won the European Film Award for Best Short and was nominated for the Academy Award® for Best Live Action Short Film.

Serendipity Films is a member of The European Film Academy, the EAVE network and Flanders Doc/VOFTP.
