Anima, The Brussels Animation Film Festival, will celebrate its 40th edition in 2021 and will take place from 12 to 21 February, the school holiday week. This festival, which offers exclusively animated films, is well known as one of the most important in Europe. It is the only festival of its kind in Belgium. It takes place in 3 locations in Brussels, and is decentralized in 8 cinemas throughout Wallonia and Flanders. The festival attracts 42 000 visitors and its audience is constantly growing.


The Festival will offer more than 100 sessions with • fresh animated short films, in international or Belgian competition, • a focus on a European region (Balkans in 2021), • new feature films (with a majority of European productions), • events (Animated Night, Valentine’s evening, Special 40th...), • professional meetings – Futuranima-, •VR films, • meet and greet, • concerts, • 2 thematic exhibitions • educational workshops for children, • networking moments...


Folioscope asbl is the association that manages the organisation of the Anima Festival. Its purpose is to promote Belgian and foreign animated films within Belgium and beyond its borders.
