#Open call for web series


The Flemish Audiovisual Fund and DGP Media are joining forces and providing funds for bold, innovative fiction projects in the field of web series. This is a one-time open call made possible thanks to the VAF's relaunch funds allocated by the Flemish Government for 2022. DPG Media and the VAF will work with creators to find an original pitch for a fiction project destined for vtmGO that meets the points below. The deadline for submitting applications is February 15, 2022.

#Mifa pitches 2022

#Less is More call for Development Angels 

Less is More call for Development Angels is now open for the 2022 edition and is aimed at film professionals. Less is More is an initiative that supports writer-directors with projects from 1st to 3rd feature films in early development. Each selected Development Angel will benefit from masterclasses and dedicated sessions designed to highlight specific development tools. The Less is More program includes three one-week workshops between March and October 2022, as well as a tailored event - LIM MEET - to benefit from the input of industry professionals from across Europe.

#Global Pitch 2022 - Women's Voices

Sunny Side of the Doc is organizing the Global Pitch to be held on February 22 and 23, 2022. The goal is to facilitate international co-productions and funding for projects featuring women's voices. Sunny Side of the Doc is looking for important, powerful and engaging stories with a female perspective as well as genuine support for women filmmakers from underrepresented communities. 

The call for projects is open to all talents, from all regions of the world. All formats are accepted, as well as all stages of project development, provided that they can show that they have obtained at least 10% of the production budget. Selected projects will be offered access to targeted international decision-makers, meetings to advance your project, visibility of your project within the international documentary community and follow-up until its release. The winner of the best pitch will receive a prize of 3000€ and two free accreditations

#International Festival Series Mania Forum 

This year, 20 upcoming writers will be selected to take part in the week-long writing workshop at the Creative Bazaar in Lille. Within this creative incubator, candidates will have the opportunity to develop their TV series project with renowned tutors and then TV industry producers, broadcasters, and platforms during Series Mania Forum. You can apply as a solo writer or as a duo, coming from a partner school or not. Applications written in another language than English will not be considered.

ST'ART - impact and investment fund for cultural and creative companies in Wallonia and Brussels - and the Brussels Region are launching the Crea.Brussels call for projects for companies active in the cultural and creative sectors in Brussels. The rules and the questionnaire of this call are available on the website  On the proposal of Barbara Trachte, Secretary of State for Economic Transition, the Brussels Government has decided to strengthen its support to the Cultural and Creative Industries and to develop a strategy dedicated to them in the coming months. #MUSIC - Third character Directors and Producers meet composers

Film Fest Ghent, MCFIFA and FIFF Namur connect directors and composers for Third Character initiative. During the annual WSA Industry Days at Film Fest Ghent, from 20 to 23 October 2021, Film Fest Ghent will collaborate with MCFIFA (MUSIC & CINEMA International Film Festival of Aubagne) and FIFF Namur (Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur) to organise a Belgian version of the Third Character initiative. Directors and producers who are looking for a composer for their film project can rely on FFG, MCFIFA and FIFF Namur to find a match with a suitable film music composer.

The Brussels-Capital Region launches a new call for projects to support VSE and SME in their digitisation efforts on the one hand, and to ensure the digital transition of the Brussels economy by supporting the development of digital projects with a positive social and environmental impact on the other hand. This call for projects has a total budget of €400,000 to fund, for one year, private actors who submit projects that fall within one of these two lines of action:

  1. The digitisation of very small enterprises (VSE) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SME)
  2. The development of digital projects with a positive social and environmental impact

BAFF launches its call for films for its next edition (10-14 November 2021) in Brussels. The call for films is open to filmmakers, productions, students, professionals and amateurs from all over the world. The films must deal with art through practices as varied as architecture, music, sculpture, painting, dance, literature and must have a link with Belgium (Belgian artist, and/or Belgian filmmaker, and/or Belgian production or co-production). Films submitted must have been completed after 1 January 2020.

The 16th Nordic Co-production and Finance market takes place August 25th as a part of the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund. This event targets film producers, investors, film funds, sales agents and others with a professional interest in co-productions. 15-20 international film projects are selected to participate in a pitching session in front of important players in the international film industry.

The Venice Production Bridge is launching the call for projects for the ninth edition of Final Cut in Venice, which will take place from 5 to 7 September 2021, during the 78th Venice International Film Festival (1 to 11 September 2021). This edition will present a limited number of quality films in progress from all African countries and 5 Middle Eastern countries (Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon) and will give them the opportunity to find post-production funding thanks to our supporters and participants.

#TVSERIES: Torino Film Lab - Series Lab 2021

SeriesLab focuses on fiction TV series projects at an early development stage and is addressed to professional European* scriptwriters, directors and producers. The programme is structured around two residential workshops in June and November 2021 and one online workshop in September 2021. The aim is to draft the treatment of the pilot and the concept presentation (mini-bible) by the end of the programme.
 SeriesLab concludes with the presentation of the developed concepts in front of a selection of major international key players, during an industry event organized by TorinoFilmLab in conjunction with one of the main European TV series markets. You can find more information on the dedicated news.

#MUSICVIDEOS - Call for project by the Centre du Cinéma et de l'Audiovisuel - Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles

The project call is open to any director/artist, whether or not they have previously directed music videos, films, or other audiovisual content. The music video must be designed to accompany a clearly identified piece of music, which the musician or group has a topicality (e.g. album release) and is supported by a professional structure (label, booking agencies, manager, etc.). The clip can be in a wide variety of formats: live-action, animation, documentary, fictional or experimental, or even multidisciplinary. The project must be designed to circulate on dedicated platforms for clip format (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) but also to be teased via social networks- in the broadest sense. The aid, of a maximum amount of 20,000 euros, must be spent for the benefit of individuals or legal entities resident in Belgium for tax purposes.

The form has to be submitted in French but the music video can be of any language.

#DOCS: Sunny Side of the Docs - Global Pitch

Sunny Side of the Doc is launching Global Pitch, a new initiative that will take place on 2nd to 3rd February 2021. Twelve investigative and current affairs projects will be selected to take part in two days of online pitching sessions. The Global Pitch comes at a time when our planet, our daily lives and our industry are being turned upside down. Society is faced with increasingly complex issues and challenges, and the documentary genre has now more than ever a decisive role to play when it comes to understanding the world around us, inspiring change and shining a light on action for the future.

First Cut Lab Belgium is a consultancy program designed for feature films in editing phase from Belgium – at least one from Flanders & at least one from Wallonie-Bruxelles. The program is made in collaboration and with the final support of the Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds and the Centre du cinema of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. The selected teams (director/producer/editor) are offered a creative framework, both benevolent & challenging, where to open up new perspectives and to explore the whole artistic potential of their films. They screen their rough cut in a private session, and receive expert feedbacks from three international film industry advisors, as well as tailor-made advice from a consultant editor.

The program will take place online, and each film will be workshopped within the period from 15. January 2021 to 30. June 2021. Each film is accompanied by First Cut Lab for a period of roughly 6 weeks, even though the core of the Lab takes place over two consecutive days.
