Brussels talent in the spotlight at Cannes Film Festival 2025

From 13 to 24 May 2025, the Croisette will play host to the 78th Cannes Film Festival. The multiple selections will feature five feature films supported by screen.brussels that reflect the diversity of talent in Brussels. Sylvain Chomet's A Magnificent Life, a regular at Cannes since 2003, will be presented in a special screening. Dalloway, Yann Gozlan's sixth feature film, will be part of a midnight screening. Thierry Klifa and the prestigious cast of La Femme la plus riche du monde will climb the steps for an out-of-competition screening. Elsewhere, the competition of the Critics' Week selection will feature Alexe Poukine's Kika, shot entirely in Brussels. Finally, the Director's Fortnight has selected Valéry Carnoy's first film, La Danse des renards.

Marcel et Monsieur Pagnol

Special screening

At the height of his fame, Marcel Pagnol receives a commission from the editor-in-chief of a prominent women's magazine ELLE to write a literary serial, in which he can recount his childhood, his beloved Provence, and his early loves. As he composes the initial pages, the child he once was—little Marcel—suddenly appears before him. Thus, his memories resurface with each word: the advent of talking pictures, the first major film studio, his deep affection for his actors, and the experience of writing. The greatest storyteller of all time then becomes the hero of his own narrative.

In the near future, during a health crisis, novelist Clarissa Katsef visits the Ludovico Foundation housing complex in search of inspiration. She stays in a penthouse flat with views over Paris, hoping to find some tranquillity. With the help of her AI assistant Dalloway, she finds fresh inspiration as she immerses herself in her writing.

Director's Fortnight

At a boarding school specialising in sports, Camille, a young boxing star recently crowned French champion, is narrowly saved from a fatal accident by his best friend Matteo. As anxiety slowly gnaws away at him, he begins to question his passion for boxing and his close friendship with Matteo. Meanwhile, foxes in the forest surrounding the boarding school are running riot and start to cause trouble on school grounds.
