Synopsis
Since 2016, the Belgian rap scene has been thriving, as continuously proven in the French-speaking world and beyond with the popularity of artists such as Damso, Stromae, Hamza, Roméo Elvis, and Shay.
However, the history of hip-hop in Belgium did not start there. We must go back more than 40 years to discover the pioneers and experience with them the developments, disappointments and victories that have allowed the emergence of this golden age. Let’s journey back in time and meet those who fought to make Belgian rap what it has become.
