New media chronology: noW/Future?

screen.brussels, CSA, TWIST and mediarte.be have the pleasure of inviting you to the 8th professional meeting organised as part of the Plan TV. It’s another opportunity for producers and creators to meet with experts in the audiovisual formats market.

The recent controversy between the Cannes Film Festival and Netflix highlighted the need to define the basis for a new agreement for the film industry, particularly through a change in media chronology.

It’s now time to seek possible paths forwards in order to respond to the current situation.

On Wednesday 4 October at 6 p.m., as part of the TV PLAN programme (www.plantv.be) and the Namur International Film Festival (www.fiff.be), we will address this complex yet fundamental issue for the future of distribution and funding of world cinema.

- How to integrate new participants in audiovisual distribution (Netflix, Amazon, VOD platforms) into the current system?

- What are the proposals for a new media chronology and what are the effects on the funding of works?

- What are the alternatives for promoting a film release?

- What are the obligations for participants in the production chain?

To answer these questions and propose concrete paths for reflection, we will have the pleasure of welcoming representatives from the different links in the cinematic chain, including:

Fabrice Du Welz, filmmaker

Jean-Jacques Neira, producer, Fontana

Philippe Logie, BeTV

Jérôme De Béthune, distributor and operator, Belga Films

Bruno Plantin-Carrenard, UGC

Catherine Lemaire, Cinéma Les Grignoux

Brigitte Paquay, Head of Content Acquisitions, Content & Media, CBU, Proximus
